Learning and then mastering this scale is the key to creating anything you want. Not knowing about this scale can quite literally kill you— or worse. The emotional tone of Fear is at the bottom of this scale and leads to all sorts of bad stuff. You could think of it as the dark side of the force from “Star Wars.” At the top of the scale is Joy— Love— Freedom and Appreciation. Learning to hang-out in these tones will create for you— anything you want because, this is where all the good stuff comes from.
I want you to know that all the bad or negative experiences that have happened to you— are because you are not controlling your state of mind and— staying out of hypnosis. You may not think you are in hypnosis— but I can assure you that, you are probably in hypnosis more often than not! I always ask my new clients if they have ever been hypnotized before. Most answer me “No”. I then proceed to explain to them the following—“You have experienced being in hypnosis— lots of times.”
For example— have you ever gone to a movie and even though you know it’s not real, have found yourself scared or laughing or crying and not even noticing the person sitting next to you— munching popcorn? Movie producers and directors actually count- on us— going into hypnosis during the film. That’s why the volume gets loud and the lights flash and the music is chosen very skillfully and carefully—to evoke a mood!
Or perhaps— you’ve experienced driving along a familiar route when suddenly you realize that you have missed the turn-off that you’ve taken many times in the past— but your mind was on something else.
How many times have you walked into another room of your house only to find yourself standing there—trying to remember why you walked into that room? Or maybe— you are looking frantically for your car keys and then realize they are in your hand! How many times have you said something inappropriate or not germane to a conversation and wondered to yourself— “Why did I say that?”
No— it’s not just getting old and forgetful.
“We have been tranced from our social conditioning since we were small children”, says Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. author of “The Biology of Belief” and “Spontaneous Evolution”.
In his book “Ageless Body, Timeless Mind” -Deepak Chopra, M.D. remarks; “The number of impressions that get laid down inside us is staggering…behavioral psychologists have estimated that just the verbal cues fed to us by our parents early in childhood, which still run inside our heads like muffled tape loops, amount to over twenty-five thousand hours of pure conditioning”.
Dan Siegal, M.D. who heads up the “MindSight Institute” at U.C.L.A.’s School of Medicine calls this common condition of tranced— “mind wandering.” He considers this condition a destroyer of happiness. He says that neural-integration and “mindfulness” are the— heart of health! His work is called interpersonal neurobiology.
As a society, we are regularly bombarded by negative news on a worldwide scale. Disasters of all sorts, new technology that many cannot possibly keep up with, heavy commuter traffic, economic uncertainties, inflation, overpopulation, air, water and noise pollution to name a few. Societies, the world over are in a waking state of hypnosis due to an overload of information. This overload triggers our sympathetic nerve system to engage the body’s fight or flight response —on a regular basis— which causes our mind to escape (flight) into hypnosis or trance and renders us hyper-suggestible. Our Subconscious mind then becomes vulnerable to all kinds of negative influences which can drive us down the scale as our own negative thoughts bubble up into our conscious mind.
Next time I will discuss how our mind actually works and how it controls our emotional states.
