The Sourest Lemon

Everyone in their lives will go through traumatic and painful experiences, but not everyone comes out of them alive. Now I’m not just speaking physically alive, but a part of their soul dies. After these experiences, many people allow factors like alcohol, drugs, and depression to take control and they find themselves sleepwalking through life. But instead, I’ve learned that, “YOU have the power to choose an empowering meaning to anything that happens in your life.” Read that sentence again. We all have breakthroughs. We all have life-defining moments. And in the words of Tony Dorsett,

“Pressure can burst a pipe or pressure can make a diamond. I am a diamond.”

BE THE DIAMOND!

People live their lives thinking they have all the time in the world, so they play it cool, but we don’t. And that is the blessing challenges give us. The blessing to understand that everything in life is not certain. Most of all, our lives are not certain. What we can make certain is how we cherish what we have, how we treat the ones we love, and how we choose to live our lives. I took the sourest lemon that life has to offer and turned it into something resembling lemonade. Everything happens for a reason. Now my reason is to share my story and continue to be a living example to my family, my friends, and my community that there is no lemon so sour that you can’t make something resembling lemonade.”
